I am very excited about the announcement that Justin Taylor and Thomas Kidd have launched a new Evangelical History Blog on The Gospel Coalition website. I think Kidd is a great addition to TGC and an obvious fit.
I was introduced to Thomas Kidd in an undergraduate course on American religious history taught by Kurt Peterson at North Park University. Kidd’s The Great Awakening: The Roots of Evangelical Christianity in Colonial America was assigned reading for the class. Kidd is following in the footsteps of his mentor George Marsden and is one of the preeminent scholars in the field of American religious history.
I have enjoyed Dr. Kidd’s blog on Patheos for many years. However, one cannot help but notice that the Patheos blog’s presentation never matched the quality content that Kidd provided. On the other hand, The Gospel Coalition has the audience and the resources to match the content.
I encourage you to check out Kidd’s introduction post and Taylor’s announcement. I’m sure that I’ll be responding to many Evangelical History Blog posts in the future.
